Just wondering on the late September-mid October timeline for Croatia. Are ferries and transportation services reduced that would add time constraints for a trip?

We were in Croatia the end of September in 2021. We visited Dubrovnik, Korčula, Split, Zadar, Rijeka, and Zagreb.
It was warm enough to swim down south and the ferries were running. Come October things change. In fact, our hotel in Zadar was closing for the season October 2.
But, I would do a little research. It seems that the shoulder season has moved to mid October so places may stay open longer. Even if you visit then you can always find restaurants open (locals eat out too) and things to do.
Of course Rijeka and Zagreb are open all year round.

It depends on where you intended to go, you can certainly still get to the islands, schedules will just be different. Jadrolinija and Krilo are the primary operators, there are a couple others as well. The homepage for each island will link to schedules.
I would go in late Sept with no qualms—warm seas would be worth any inconvenience, but you may find it does not impact your plans at all, the devil is in the details.

I have a friend, an excellent guide in Dubrovnik, who told me a few weeks ago that September today is what August was a few years ago. I looked at a few ferry schedules, and up until about 10 October things are more or less normal. But after 10 October its a different story.
Last year i was there in mid-September and it was pretty okay, later than that I would still go to the Balkans but I would concentrate on other than coast and islands. But thats just me.

It will really depend on your itinerary but ferries are operating later than they ever have this year so you will probably be fine.
