Croatia and Puglia

Hello,

We are planning a 3 week summer break this year. These are our time windows

July 3rd - July 25th OR
July 18th - August 8th
Flying from LAX

We have never been to Croatia before, nor have we been to the Puglia region of Italy.

We are very open to the best recommendations of things to do in both of these places.
My 18-year-old really wants some downtime on beaches where he can swim in the water and just relax. Me and my husband would love some nice food and culture options.

Any recommendations about places to visit, things to do, and how to travel between these destinations would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance!

First look at your transit options between the two to see what the pros/cons might be. There are ferries between Dubrovnik and Bari, with varying reports on comfort. Not sure if the flights are seasonal or direct.
Anyway, I’d want to know what I lose time wise before committing to both, as either would make for a fantastic three week trip!

Be aware that 8/8 is a significant holiday in Italy. It may impact travel and availability of accommodations.

Well, that is what I would do, but you may decide differently, The travel between the two would be the determining factor, so I would want to know that first. You would then know exactly how many days you’d have for each and that would affect recommendations.
Are y’all up for a ferry ride? 1) read up on that first as that could easily settle the travel without a flight. I just don’t know if any of the airport have short direct hops over the Adriatic.

Looks like Ryanair does fly direct from Bari to Dubrovnik, but be sure you’re okay with their baggage restrictions. Jadrolinija runs the ferry route, which you can do overnight.
