CROATIA—Always Croatia Cruises and Weather in October

I am traveling this year in Croatia early to mid-October. Has anyone had experience using Always Croatia mini cruise line along the Dalmatian Coast? What is your advice about weather in October?

I've been to Croatia twice in early October. The weather can be glorious and sill warm, but the chance of heavy rain increases throughout the month. Sometimes there are a few really stormy days followed by warm days. Obviously it varies year to year. This last October, I postponed my arrival a few days because there were a few days of storms forecast - I arrived in Split the day after they were gone, at the very beginning of the month. I had ten days in Croatia and Slovenia, and I didn't see a drop of rain. The water wasn't super warm, but I did swim in the ocean a few times.

The upside of travel in October is that it's not nearly as busy, so it's much easier to "wing it" with your schedule and book places to stay as you go along, maybe depending on the weather. Getting around on our own by ferry and bus is pretty easy. Renting a car is probably not expensive (haven't driven in Croatia since 2015 - I hear rental car prices have gone up post-Covid but not sure about Croatia). If you lock yourself into a cruise, you don't have the option to change up your plans if the weather is terrible for a few days.

Our group of 5 women just got off the Always Croatia cruise. We’re in Split now. You’ll have a wonderful time. October is a great time to travel Croatia.
