Does it make any sense to try to get to Sarajevo from Dubrovnik for a day trip via a transport company?
No, unless the transport is a magic carpet. It’s 4.5 hours one way by car.
No, that’s partly why Mostar is a popular excursion site. You can get “a taste” of Bosnia there, but that’s also itself a long day trip. YMMV, but coming from Sarajevo, Mostar didn’t really do it for me.
Sarajevo is absolutely worth a trip though, when you have a few days to spend.
That’s what I thought. I am visiting Mostar on the RS Adriatic tour but am disappointed we don’t get to Sarajevo
Oh well, another time as I have my flight home already booked.
Thanks for the confirmation.
The fact that the RS tour does Mostar is very inconvenient for returning to BiH. I went by car from very near Dubrovnik to Mostar to Sarajevo just last year but I spent a couple of nights in Mostar on the way. Great trip. That was my third trip to Sarajevo, love it. Try and find your way back in the future.
Sarajevo is a long mountain drive from Dubrovnik. A bus will go there. 4-7 hours. Go but stay at least 2 nights.
I have made the drive, portions of it multiple times, and yes, by the local definition they are mountains. But dont expect any snow capped peaks. More like tall hills. The roads are very good, the traffic isnt terrible and many of the villages along the way are interesting. Two nights is "okay" for Dubrovnik, then two nights in Sarajevo would be facinating for most.
