We will rent a car in Dubrovnik to travel through Croatia. We would like to visit Mostar, Bosnia for an afternoon and then return to Croatia. Is there any problem taking a rented car between Croatia and Bosnia? Thanks for any info available.
There is no "problem" as long as the car has an insurance card (or "cross border card") for insurance outside the EU. It may cost extra - depends on the car company. Check with them. Don't assume your rental car will have an insurance card unless you have requested it ahead of time.
FYI, even if you don't visit Mostar, if you drive between Split and Dubrovnik on the coast, you must drive through a small section of Bosnia (the "Neum Corridor") so you leave Croatia and cross back into it from Bosnia soon after. Some car companies make exceptions just for Neum. But if going to Mostar for sure, you'll need the insurance card.
Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the insurance. In the US I don't take the rental insurance because mine covers it.
