Any car rental locations near the train station that someone can recommend?

I have no personal experience with car rental in Europe, so these are not recommendations. I used Google maps and searched for "car rental".
On Draskoviceva Ul. (which intersects Ul. Kneza Branimira, the street on which the RR station is located) you'll find 24/7 Rent a Car and Nova Car Rental.
In the Esplanade Hotel on Mihanoviceva Ul., which is parallel to Ul. Kneza Branimira, there's an Oryx Rent a Car location.
I'm not positive about the exact location of the exit from the RR station. If the little train icon on Google maps is accurate, Oryx would be the closest.
There are quite a number of other options that would be relatively short taxi rides from the station, including a Sixt location in the Panorama Hotel. I mention Sixt because a few posters here have used it (not necessarily in Zagreb).
Many Americans choose to arrange their rental cars through one of the large consolidators such as Auto Europe. Definitely check around and compare prices, being sure whatever insurance you need is included.

My husband just rented a car last for a trip to Zagreb Oct 14 through Autoeurope. He will pick up at the airport.

I didn't rent in Zagreb, but I can definitely recommend Oryx. We rented from them in Rijeka and returned in Dubrovnik. Great car that was practically new, no issues and we especially loved that we could rent a wifi hotspot with the car for a small additional fee. So, if they are close to the station, check them out.
