We plan to just spend one whole full day there but no sure if we should get tickets in advance. And How about getting them. Thank you in advance for any advice
I've never bought them in advance; not sure it was possible when I visited. But you can now - have to buy them two days in advance or more, it seems, otherwise you have to buy them when you arrive.
If you buy in advance you certainly can skip a long possible line. However, if you buy in advance and the weather isn't very good, you are stuck with a ticket. If you go early in the morning the lines won't be as long as later in the morning. Hope the weather is good. It is one of the most scenic parks I have ever seen. Enjoy.
I strongly endorse the recommendation to be there early, and avoid possible crowds. And enjoy! It's definitely worth seeing.
Thank you everyone, I think I’m going to buy them in advance and start as early as possible. Hopefully the crowds won’t be as bad in September.
It will be a disappointing experience if you get hung up with the day-tripping crowds, so be there when the park opens. When I visited the park in 2015, it was my impression that a lot of the visitors were Croatian, so I'm not sure a nice-weather day in September is going to make much difference. Perhaps mid-week vs. weekend would help a bit, but the best solution is to be at the park super-early.
I was able to purchase my tickets for our mid-May visit to Plitvice by using this website: https://ticketing.np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/ I didn't experience a problem.
I did get my tickets 250 kunas each. I enter the time for 7:00 am and after I paid it looks like they gave me tickets for 12:30 to 4:00 :( I tried to call them and also send emails and I’m getting no response. We would rather cancel this part if our trip than go at mid-day, so disappointed at the moment.
We went midweek in early October, 2017 - I didn't catch whether you're going early or late in September. There were no lines to buy tickets when we arrived at 11am. And although there were a lot of people throughout the park, it was not over-crowded in any one area throughout our visit. We could walk at our leisure, only occasionally finding ourselves amongst a group. By the time we left in the afternoon, we were in areas with few other visitors.
