We are arriving in Dubrovnik from Mostar by bus. What is the best way from bus station to the old town? And back to the bus sta for departure to Split.
In Split we will be about 10min walk from the train/bus sta, is there a bus to the airport for a 8am departure and how much time will we need to get thru security?

There's a city bus that runs frequently between the bus station and the Pile Gate. I used it when I was there a few years ago and it worked out well. The bus might continue around to other parts of the Old Town, but I only went as far as Pile. Don't recall exactly where I purchased my bus ticket (might have been a small café across the street), but I'd be surprised if it wasn't discussed in Rick's Croatia guidebook, probably in the section on arrival in Dubrovnik by bus or ferry (bus station is in the port area).
The city busses in Dubrovnik connect the bus station/harbor with the Old Town. It's pretty much a straight shot on the #1 busses and takes 10 - 15 minutes or so.
