Traveling to Istria from Split to enjoy truffles and go truffling, maybe Rojinv. Only have 3 - 4 days Can I bus or ferry there as I prefer not to drive and miss scenery. Is there a culinary / truffles tour perhaps? Many thanks!

Check buscroatia.com for schedules. Rome2Rio's best suggestion is a flight from Split to Pula. There is certainly bus service from Pula to Rovinj, but i don't know how frequent it is and how well it will mesh with the flight schedule.

I don't know of a culinary/truffle tour. I very much enjoyed the Inland Istria tour I took in 2015, which was still being offered once a week, on Wednesdays, the last time I checked. It went to Motovun, Groznjan, a local-history museum (I think in Pazin) and a winery. Somewhere along the way I think there was a truffle tasting at a shop (but my memory is very fuzzy on that, and it could have happened in another country entirely).

Although I visited istria without a car, I arrived from Ljubljana and departed for Zagreb--both places with direct bus service. I had to temper my expectations about where I could go and how quickly i would get there. Istria is a place where a car is very handy.

I understood that the truffle season was November, which isn't the best weather for a holiday in Croatia.

The major festival...where a giant while truffle omlette is made, happens the second w/e in September in Buzet. Truffle season goes through November in Isria, I've read. I'm sure looking forward to it! Especially now that I know I can get there by bus in about 5 hrs including a 1 hour layover in Rijeka. 😊
