I emailed Villa Ana to ask about a couple of things like a very late check in (8 pm) and Danijel the owner gave me a quote for the 1 night stay. We are getting in from a 12 hour day tour from Zagreb via a Plitvice Lakes hike on the way and the bus lets us off at the main City harbor. Seems like a long walk with luggage, probably 15-20 minutes pulling luggage so maybe we can catch an Uber or taxi to Villa Ana. I chose this hotel because we plan to take the 12 noon ferry to Hvar and I think it will be the ferry near the train station which is closest to Villa Ana. We don't have to stay at Villa Ana but with the late checkin and location to the ferry it seemed good for 1 quick night.
My critical question is this: Danijel said I can book the room with him and send several emails breaking up the credit card info to keep the information secure OR I can book through Booking.com, which seems to be 40-50 Euro higher on their website. It's been years since I booked with a credit card through multiple emails and now with all of the data breaches I'm not sure what to do. I suppose I could call the hotel but I'm not great at making overseas calls and having to agree to everything verbally and with foreign accents. Maybe it's easy and without risk, I don't know. Thanks for any feedback!
The ferry terminal and train station are right next to each other in Split.
While it sounds like you do have a long day before you get to Split, the
walk does not look very far at all, although it is a very busy part of the
city and you should exercise caution and probably watch out for
pickpockets.
Also, there are loads of accommodations in that area, so if the booking
process is of concern, find a hotel that has an online booking platform.
Thanks for your reply shoeflyer! I am moving on to other hotel possibilities but I have found that some places are fully booked now or they are super expensive. I know I will find a solution but it is much harder than I thought for Split but that is independent travel, lol! I am still keeping Villa Ana on the radar and if I don't find an alternative. The biggest concern besides trying to email cc info piecemeal is showing up so late with luggage from the bus in the dark, or maybe it is not dark yet at 8 pm. We are always careful with pickpockets and gypsies but still need to walk in a safe lit area. Thanks again!
