Hi, everyone! We will be in Dubrovnik next week, and a Croatian friend of mine recommended a boat trip to Mljet island because my daughter is a huge nature lover. But then a Croatian friend of my husband's said that you have to find the right boat, because some of them are sloooooooow. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations on which boat we should take, and where we get it? We're staying inside the city walls, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!
I did it a few years back. As far as i can remember and research, there is a regular passenger ferry (catamaran style for pedestrians only) that runs from the main ferry terminal in Dubrovnik and stops in Sipan, Sobra and Polace. You need to go to Polace if you want to visit the national park and the island monastary.
I did not go as a day trip, but I seem to remember that is was certainly possible to go in the morning and return in the afternoon. We just showed up at the ferry terminal and got tickets, but it would not hurt to do a little research at the tourist office just outside the old town when you get there.
Thank you for the advice!
