We will be in Hvar for 2 nights on the Stari Grad side of the Island. Originally we were planning to take a catamaran ferry to Dubrovnik. What is the best way for 10 travelers to get to Dubrovnik from Hvar? We will not have a rental car as we will be returning the car when we get to Split.
Thanks
Ilana
We (a couple) were part of a group in a van that carried us from Korcula from Dubrovnik. I think the service is mentioned in Rick Steves' book. You would need to ask them whether the could handle 10 people.
Interestingly, during our ride, an oncoming RV clipped the driver's rear view mirror right off the van. Totally the other driver's fault, but we wound up sitting by the side of the rode until the cops showed up.
My wife and I were in Hvar in mid-May before the catamaran to Dubrovnik was running for the summer. We took the ferry back to Split and then took the bus from there to Dubrovnik. We sat in the first seat on the passengers side of the bus and enjoyed the views. It was inexpensive and turned out to be a nice experience.
The best way (easiest and most elegant at the same time) would be for you and for your group to go to Hvar town from Stari Grad. From Hvar town you can take a catamaran that takes you straight to Dubrovnik. Here is a link about those catamarans with the timetable and booking link https://www.tourdesksplit.com/dubrovnik-to-split-ferry-and-catamaran-guide/
Also, you would need to take a bus or a private transfer from Stari Grad to Hvar town. Bus would be the option that would not hurt the budget too much. Bus ticket from Stari Grad to Hvar costs 30 kuna, which is approximately 4 euro. Here is link with the timetable of those buses http://stari-grad.eu/en/service-information/bus-timetable
