Best road to Plitvice from Istria

Hi,

We will travel from Marasi to Plitvice tuesday. We will visit the lakes on wednesday so we have full day to go from Marasi to Smoljanac ( our lodging near Plitvice). Google sufgest to take the e751 ( i hate that road, people drive a crazy way and make stupid and dangerous take over), then the e65 and finally the number 1 road. Is it the best way ? Since we will have full day we doule stop in Opatije, but i will be too soon for lunch ( we will leave Marasi around 9:30 am). Rastoke seems a nice stop too but it will be too late for lunch !

How would you do it ?

I would do it that way google suggests. I’ve take the e751 highway so many times and I think it is a very safe, smooth and excellent highway.

I too have driven the E751 a few times and thought is was a perfectly fine highway. Because it's the main road between Rijeka area and Istria's Adriatic coast, it's difficult to avoid it completely even if one detours onto some secondary roads. I'd just bite the bullet and follow Google's suggested route.
