Best place in Croatia

In a few weeks I plan on leaving Switzerland (where I've been housesitting) for Croatia. For years I have heard friends talk about Croatia being somewhat of an accessible oasis for remote workers and travelers. Aside from the obvious hype, it does seem like a great place to stay for awhile, which is why I thought about finding a short-term rental for a few months while I settle into a new remote job. This has led me to an obvious question:

Where do I stay?

Zagreb? Split? RIjeka? Lol Dubrovnik?

Other than maybe the most touristy areas of Croatia, it does seem like you can find a relatively cheap apartment. But where is the best place to meet other digital nomads and travelers?

Split, Zadar, Rovinj and Zagreb are Digital Nomad magnets. Zadar had the first digital village. Zagreb and Split are Croatia’s two most populated cities. The coastal cities have milder winters— a bit warmer than Zagreb and with no snow.

Split offers good size city with great menu of experiences and easy access to coast via ferries and airport is a breeze to utilize.

I love Zagreb and Split but for me I’d spend an expanded time in Rovinj. That’s because I love the national forest with hiking and biking trails as well as the beach and fun places to eat.
