We are thninkg of staying in Korcula or Hvat for three nights and after that head July 25-28 to Dubrovnik. We are thinning to take late flight to Zagreb the 28, and depart 29 very early back to the US.
I saw that there seem to be no cruise ships from the 22 or 23 to the 25 in Dubrovnik. Would it make sense to go from Split to Dubrovnik first, just for that reason and then Hvar or Korcula? That would mean traveling from either one of those on the 28 to Dubrovnik to get the flight to Zagreb at night. Or will Dubrovnik be so crowded that it won’t matter, ships or no ships?
It doesn't seem to make much sense to me to head down to Dubrovnik to then head back up to the islands to then return to Dubrovnik, as you will waste hours in back tracking. Your plan would make more sense if you were flying out of Split.
The catamaran from Dubrovnik to Hvar arrives early evening and departs mid morning, so this would only give you two days on Hvar.
Dubrovnik will be busy at that time, as it is peak season. You are there for a few days and will have a chance to see the city once the cruise masses have departed.

Plan carefully, Dubrovnik is super crowded when cruise ships are in port.
Thanks for replying. It seems that we would lose at least a day if we go Split Dubrovnik Islands Split, (even if we fly back from Split to Zagreb). Since we have two days that are green and one that is red on the cruise calendar, we will do a day trip to Kotor on the red day and try to make the best of the lesser crowded days. Although I read all the warnings, I have also seen posts were people said that the crowds did not completely ruined their experience in Dubrovnik. Thanks!
