I've read older blogs here but the auto ferry websites are somewhat unclear to me. We would like to do the above itinerary in June south to north (or visa versa if necessary) staying one night each in Korcula and Hvar. Are all ferries "auto" ones? Has anyone done overnights on the islands with a car? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In 2012 we did rent a car in Ljubljana, Slovenia and travel through the Alps down into Rovinj, Croatia, Plitvice and then to Split. There we dropped the car off, took a ferry over to Hvar, stayed 2 nights then on to Korcula for 2 nights. We found a great service that picked us (4) up at our lodging in a mini bus and took us to our lodging in Dubrovnik. On the way touring some wineries on the
Peljesac Peninsula and having a great lunch in Ston. The cost was unbelievable, so reasonable and service was great! The web site is: Korkyra.info. If still wanting your car the jadrolinija.hr sails both car ferries and catamarans. We loved our trip! Such a beautiful area! Enjoy your travels!

I have done the trip both from Split to Dubrovnik and from Riejka to Korcula. I have not been to Hvar. The ferries sell out far in advance and only run every few days (might be three times per week?). I never had a car nor would I recommend one for any of those stops. Dubrovnik doesn't not allow cars in heir old centre and Korcula is really small. You can easily walk. Hvar is bigger but taxis and mini busses are available- I've heard. If you need a car, which is quite useful in the northern areas maybe get it in Split? i think it would be easier because the variety of transport available to you would be greater and wouldn't limit you to the car ferries.

Thank you, this is important for us to know since we will have a leased car. We may try to leave the car in Split, then split to Dub via pub transport and quickly do the islands back to lickety Split. Thank you again and please dismiss the bad humor!
