August Trieste -> Split area

Split is really far from Trieste. Did you think of looking into Istria around Pula or even the island of Krk? There is also Porec, and Rovinj. A little further down the coast is Pag and Rab, two nice islands. Split from Trieste is at least a 7 hour drive on a good day. I wouldn’t keep a car in Split but the others places a car is doable, especially Pula.

Villas in Croatia are rarely on the beach. If you’re talking about this summer, you’ve waited very late and finding something decent will be a real challenge. We always rent our villas from myistria.com. Also curious why you didn’t just fly into Split? Maybe consider staying closer to Trieste?

This is a trip that is being decided by many personalities - hence the flight into Trieste and the late booking. It is herding cats! At this point I have two nights in Trieste and am finding as you rightly mention, difficulty in finding a place that satisfies everyone and is available. Right now, I am looking at Vis but realize there is quite a distance between Trieste and Vis.

Since we would get from the airport to our place in Trieste without a car, I'm thinking we would pick one up there in the city? Then travel along the coast and stop for one night somewhere and then spend 4 nights on Vis and return the way we came with an overnight before getting back to Trieste and home.
Does this sound doable? Thanks in advance

Getting to Vis will be a really long trip. Just doesn’t seem worth all the driving to me. Maybe fly from Trieste to Split?

We have rented from this company many many times. Their properties are highly curated and they only show villas that meet the highest standards. You just contact them and take it from there. Not complicated.

The house you’ve linked looks good and modern, but unfortunately not in the typical stone house style Istria famous for. That’s ok. The area I know very well. Good central location not too far from Rovinj. This location will allow you to get to pretty much everywhere in Istria quickly. Be sure to visit Bale, the Dvigrad ruin, Chiavalon Olive Oil in Vodnjan, and eat lots of Istrian steak.
