August traffic/crowds and recommendation for Dubrovnik-Split stay

We will be traveling from Dubrovnik to Split in August. Taking into account the August crowds and traffic
which stay would you recommend? We planned to rent a car but heard traffic would be terrible so reconsidering.
We could ferry to Korvula

1) stay in Korcula (travel without a car)
2) stay outside of Omis near a private beach (rental car needed)
or maybe a less crowded island?

Thank you so much for your insights!

On your other thread, I was more commenting on crossing borders as far as sitting in traffic--not worth all that time in the car for a long day trip on a short trip.
Otherwise there is not a bad choice between the two options, just depends on what you want to do/see.

Personally, I wouldn’t undertake your itinerary in less than 14 nights, as I don’t like travelling at a fast pace. I also always have a hire car which I take onto the islands (my minimum stay on an island is a week).

The border crossings are busiest at the weekend. Things are quieter by late August when the local schools are back.

There is plenty flexibility for getting to Korcula by bus and as you aren’t there for long, you aren’t going to have much time to see anything other than Korcula town. Korcula to Split has fewer options. When I was there in early September, the catamaran didn’t run for 2 consecutive days due to strong seas. As you are on a tight schedule, I would therefore suggest that you opt for the Omis area. There is good kayaking, beaches and the inland gorges to occupy you.

From where along the Dalmatian Coast is it best to visit Mostar?

Should we make it a day trip from Dubrovnik?
A stop from Dubrovnik to Omis?
A day trip from Omis area?

we are considering an airbnb 12km south of Omis or
an overnight stop on korcula?

I am having trouble knowing how to fit in a trip Mostar.

Thank you!
