Any Reconstruction of the Dubrovnik Old Town Planned or In-Process?

I got a response to a query about an Old Town apartment for staying in mid-April 2024. Their response had 2 red flags:

They are unsure if construction work on their building will be finished before the scheduled completion date of 01 May 2024.
They alluded to checking back in a month when they have more details from the Institute for “Reconstruction of the Old Town”.

The first point can be avoided if construction is limited to only their building. But the second point makes me think a larger, possibly covering more of Old Town, construction effort is planned or in-process.

Would anyone have any insight on a “reconstruction of the Old Town” effort?

I've taken a moment to look into the matter on the official website of the city of Dubrovnik but couldn't find any specific information regarding a large-scale “Reconstruction of the Old Town” in 2024. It's quite possible that such initiatives might be discussed or planned at a level not yet communicated publicly through their official channels.

Might I inquire where you found the information about the project from the Institute for “Reconstruction of the Old Town”? Having a source or point of reference could assist me (and others) in diving deeper into this and possibly getting more clear and definitive answers.

If you would like, I can further inquire with some local contacts or agencies to gain more clarity on the situation, once we have a bit more detail on the original source of this information.

Sounds a bit too "iffy" for me. Having gone through a remodeling and all the red tape that entails, I'd seek another place to stay.

Thanks for your responses.

This was part of a response email where I asked about availability for the Apartments Martecchini for late April 2024. The response was ambiguous on what was being reconstructed; was it their building or a bigger scale? Don’t know.

I am leaning toward thinking reconstruction will only affect their building. I base this on your investigation (Thanks again!), and that I haven’t heard anything like it when asking other places about their availability.

And in response to TC: agreed, when has a remodel ever come in on-time and on-budget?!?!?!
