Adriatic tour physical?

I'm 70 in decent shape...but 4 to 6 miles a day as advertised may be too much? What has other experienced?

Per Rick’s description, “This is a very active tour! Most days are moderate to strenuously paced with 2–8 miles of walking, including hilly terrain and lots of stairs.“. We’ve taken this tour and enjoyed it immensely. Might you be able to test your physical capacities in advance and, if lacking, establish an exercise program to meet the demands of the tour?

The thing to remember is that you aren’t doing all that walking at once. Also, you can opt out of some activities if you desire. You wake up and feel you can’t face one more walking tour? Just let the guide know.

Having taken 10 RS tours, including Adriatic,I would rate all as rather active. But as others have mentioned, the daily walks are spread out over many hours with numerous rest breaks. And you can always opt out of any activity. You do need to handle your own luggage to and from the bus and sometimes along a few blocks of cobblestone streets, so pack light. But don’t be deterred by the advertised activity level.

Seventy is not out of line with the average demographic. My experience with other RS tours is that its not the total amount of daily walking thats a potential problem, its keeping up with the group if the pace is fast, or there are a lot of stairs. And being on your feet for a long periods of time. Definitely do some serious walking to prepare.

We did this tour in September. My biggest day for steps (23,500) was the day we did the group hike at Plitvice. Many of the other days my steps hit around 16,000. We are both around your age and walk 5+ miles daily. It wasn't too much for us, but there were at least 3 times that we were walking uphill for a significant amount of time.
