We are staying 6 full days in Croatia in mid May of this year. So far we have this itinerary but not sure if its doable:
May 11 arrive in Split stay till May 14.
May 14-16 Hvar.
May 16-18 We would love to visit Dubrovnik. My husband loves history. Is it possible to take a ferry there from hvar and stay 2 nights? We fly out of Split at 4pm on the 18th. Is it also possible to get from Dubrovnik via bus and get to our flight on time? Heading to Rome for a night before flying home.

If you want to see Dubrovnik, I’d reverse the order and start there, finish in Split. Even if you cannot change the flight. You could start in Hvar depending on arrival time.
Two nights is sufficient to see Dubrovnik. What are your plans while in Split?
Buses between split and Dubrovnik run pretty much hourly. Krilo and Jadrolinija run catamarans.

Getting from Dubrovnik back to Split by bus takes about 4–4.5 hours. It is definitely possible to make your 4pm flight from Split Airport, you would just need to take one of the early morning buses to give yourself plenty of time.
