As part of a much longer trip to Bosnia Herzegovina and Slovenia, my husband and I plan to spend five nights in Istria. This will be in early June, driving in from Vipava and departing for north-central Slovenia.
My thoughts are to spend two nights in Rovinj and then three nights in northern Istria, exploring the hill towns, hiking, wine tasting, eating, truffle hunt?
We are not really beach people, but Rovinj is supposed to be so pretty, I'd like to see it. For just two nights, are there coastal alternatives to Rovinj? Can Rovinj be done as a day trip? For comparison, we spent an evening and a morning in Piran and were satisfied with that.
Any suggestions or recommendations greatly appreciated!
