Hi, will be arriving in Split late afternoon 29/7/19 and departing Dubrovnik midday on the 4th August, 2019.... 6 nights

For 6 nights you can have an option like this:
Split Croatia - 2 Nights
Korčula or Hvar- 2 Nights
Dubrovnik - 2 Nights

I think your plan works. It gives you 1.25 days in Split, 1.5 days in Korcula (more laid back than Hvar in August) and 1.5 days in Dubrovnik. Take the mid-morning (about 10am) Krilo catamarans from Split to Korcula old town and from Korcula old town to Dubrovnik. They'll get you to your next destination around noon. In Split definitely explore Diocletian's Palace and eat a meal at Fife. In Dubrovnik I really enjoyed the walk around the walls, which you might want to do early to avoid the heat and any cruise ship crowds. A guidebook will help you identify other sights that would be of specific interest to you.
