Hi all, I am a sketcher and have 3 days to spend by myself in Split before joining a boat tour group. If you know Split I would appreciate suggestions on where to find the following: good places to sketch or photograph, contemporary art galleries to visit, and outdoor cafes with good food and views to sketch.

You might consider the Ivan Mestrovic Gallery.
We spent over 2 hours photographing the sculptures. I am a huge fan of sculptures. It’s a beautiful setting and was the highlight of Split for us. https://www.gpsmycity.com/attractions/ivan-mestrovic-gallery-10240.html

The historic center of Split is framed by a park and the bay front promenade (a wonderful place to walk or sit and watch the evening strolls). It is a small area. We stayed in a private home in the hilly residential area adjacent to the historical center so it was an easy walk. Just a few blocks. Recommend that area over a beach area which would be farther away. The family was also of help with information. We liked Split over Dubrovnik for these reasons.
