2 week trip Croatia October

Hello,

I am planning a two week trip to Croatia first two weeks of October. We love to hike and walk to visit, we were also thinking of renting a car. Any suggestions as were to start and best places to see. We are in our early fifties and in great shape. Any suggestions are welcome. Nature lovers.

Thanks.

Croatia is bigger than you think and has many beautiful options. Renting a car is essential. A good place to start planning your itinerary is with the Rick Steves’ guidebook to Croatia. You cannot see it all in two weeks but you can see a lot. But read the book then come back with itinerary ideas and more specific questions.

For nature-lovers, Plitvice National Park is not to be missed, assuming you are not incredibly unlucky with the weather (seeing the park in a downpour wouldn't be pleasant). It's important to know that you need to spend the night before your park visit near the park so you can get an early start the next day. The park gets a lot of day-trippers. I'm sure it's not as bad in October as it is in mid-summer, but I think you'll still benefit greatly by getting out on the walkways when the park first opens. They were unbelievably, miserably packed during my summer 2015 visit. There was also the small matter of waiting an hour in the ticket line.

I would like to suggest you go to Split in Croatia. It’s really an incredible place to go for a vacation. I visited there last year with my friend in mid September. The weather was balmy and the city and sea are beautiful. Inspite of this, there are many historical sites to see like Diocletian Palace, Peristil Square, Statue of Grgur Ninski etc. I really enjoyed a lot at these places and would recommend everyone to go there.

You can find everything you want in different parts of Croatia so first thing is to pick the flights. Flying in and out from different airports has advantages but not essential. Look through Skyscanner for flight plans, then come back here for more information.
