15 Day trip to Croatia and Slovenia-itinerary planning

Hi all,
We are set to go to Croatia and Slovenia in mid-September. We fly into and out of Zagreb and will be traveling for 15 days. I am unsure whether to do Croatia or Slovenia first? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I don’t think which country is first makes much of a difference (especially since you’re starting and ending in Croatia regardless). More important to have an efficient route that doesn’t unnecessarily backtrack, especially in Croatia as that is a fairly big country with tourist destinations in different regions. I visited this region last year for about 3 weeks starting in Dubrovnik in late August and finishing in Ljubljana. The weather was great everywhere, but Dubrovnik was very hot and crowded. So if you’re going there, all else equal, later might be better.

As @Slate suggests above, efficiency is kind of the priority because transportation can be time-consuming and/or limited. Much depends on your itinerary. For instance, are you planning on going to Dubrovnik? Because that is 180 degrees from Slovenia, and far. But if you took a quick flight from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, then you could work your way up the coast north as part of your trip.

With more details we could give some more insight.

Depends on your plans--for example if you want the coast and possibly to swim, I'd head there first, finish in Slovenia.
