10 Day Itinerary - Islands and Northern Croatia

10 Day Itinerary - Islands and Northern Croatia

We’re traveling to Croatia for the first time in July and would love some help with travel planning. We’re two adults who have traveled pretty extensively in Europe, we love small luxury boutique hotels, great food and wine, and discovering gorgeous spaces to photograph.

We fly into Zadar and then have 10 days to fill in. We would like to do Plitvice Lakes and we read staying in Rastoke would be good for that part of the trip.

We’re interested in exploring Istria and staying up in that area.

Islands: we’re totally stumped, does it make sense to go all the way to the south to hvar and brac or are any of the northern islands worth seeing?

The Northern islands are nice too, they just don’t have the publicity. There is
Pag, Lošinj and Mali Lošinj, Krk, Cres to name a few. Google them and see which one interests you.
Krk is probably the easier to get to cause there is a bridge, no ferry necessary.

Also, just a short drive south of Zadar is Šibenik, a very overlooked town along the coast.

BTW, will you have a car? Makes traveling around easier.

Thank you so much! We’ll take a look at the islands you suggested.

We’re planning to rent a car and have it for the whole duration of the trip.

In Istria besides Rovinj and Pula there is the city of Poreč. It’s small but has a lovely coast and beautiful Cathedral.

DItto--the northern islands of Cres and Losinj are wild and gorgeous.
In your shoes, I would be looking at Dugi Otok, off Zadar, for Telascisca park. Ten days will go quickly, so it really depends on how long you wish to spend in Zadar and Plitvice and Istria if you have time for islands.
