We are going to be spending a week on the islands and wondered which island would be best? We will not have a car so will need to use the bus to get around once on the island.
Would 1 week be better on Brac or Korcula? We could take day trips to other islands but I like the idea of having a base.
Korcula Town is quite small and a week would be too much time for the island. Brac would be more of an adventure with more to see. Even better, the Makarska Riviera centered around Makarska on the mainland just east of Brac has tons of beaches and an old town with plenty to enjoy. So, perhaps a combination of Brac and Makarska would fit the bill.

It really depends on how you wish to spend your time. Brac has several towns I’d consider staying in, plus a monastery, but on Korcula I’d only want to stay in Korcula town or possibly Lumbarda. For nature pursuits, I’d consider them equal.
We rented bikes on Korcula, scooters on both. From Korcula you can get over to Orebic, but day trips probably more limited than from Brac.
As much as I loved Korcula and feel like it has some of the better activity options, I think a solid week on any of these islands would be a stretch. So, why not both? Getting around via ferry is easy, and 3-4 nights is comfortable enough to justify it. I met a lot of people essentially following an itinerary of several nights on Korcula-Hvar-Brac working their way up the coast.
