I'll be travelling to Bulgaria in October .. is taking the train from Sofia to Plovdiv fairly straightforward? Would taking a bus be just as easy?

Joanne, I cant help with that one. I can tell you that Plovdiv remains one of my favorite destinations. Hope you spend a night at least and pull as much out of it as you can.

I’m bookmarking this for a future trip. Bulgaria and Romania have been on my radar for awhile. We were going to go this September but decided on Istanbul, got a great hotel rate. Hoping for fall 2026.
