Looking for moderate lodging with breakfast in central Sofia

We will be staying in the Hotel Budapest in Sofia. It looks very nice and is reasonable. Keep in mind I chose this hotel to be close to the train station.

I found it like I do most of the hotels I stay in. I search for "Cheap Hotels in _______. usually go to Kayak or the Google listing and put it in Map mode. This way I find a hotel near where I want to be. .

As I identify likely suspects I visit their websites check the prices and contact them directly. All hotels prefer this to you using the aggregator sites as they pay commission to them. In the rare cases where a hotel will not meet or beat the online rate I may book with the aggregator., most likely I will just move on to another hotel if the choices are good.

Ive stayed at the Thracia Hotel a couple of times over the years. Nice solid 3+ star and near Vitosha street (the "interesting" end). Next time in Sofia I will probably stay there again. I love Sofia which puts me in sort of a minority...
