I’m on the BOB 12-day tour in late September. I’m curious whether there’s enough free time in Bourgas to make a short excursion to Sozopol. Thanks for any advice or comment.
I was on the Best of Bulgaria tour last year, September ‘22. First, let me say you will have a great adventure. Bulgaria is simply fascinating. Wonderful people, good food, and an amazing history. And quite inexpensive.
Unless the itinerary has changed from last year, I would answer your query in the negative. We arrived in Burgas late afternoon, about 5:30 PM. Just enough time for a brief rest and to cleanup. Then a group dinner at the hotel’s outdoor restaurant. The next morning, we were up early and on the bus to Nessebar. We really saw nothing of Burgas other than the area immediately nearby the hotel. It was really just a hotel-stop.
Hi Jim, many thanks for taking the time to respond. 🙏
Hi, Vito!
Well, how was your RS Best of Bulgaria tour? Who was your guide? Stefan? Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Hi Jim,
Twelve days is too long, and Stefan too long-winded. Personally, I would have preferred more time at the beach to experience how Bulgarian, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish and other eastern tourists spend their holidays.
The best part of the trip was the camaraderie with the other folks on the tour. I’ll submit my trip report when I return home next week.
