1st Time Visitor to Bulgaria

We have either six or seven nights to spend in Bulgaria after spending five nights to Krakow (including a day trip to Auschwitz, already booked) which is booked except for our flight to Bulgaria. Wiz, never flown this airline before, has cheap flights.

Since we are going in April, I think we can skip the Black Sea. We mainly want to see Sofia, Plovdiv, and Rila Monastery.

So, how does this sound?

1st day: Fly from Krakow to Sofia
2nd day: day trip to Rila Monastery (possibly rent a car but there are tours.)
3rd day: Day in Sofia
4th day: Travel to Plovdiv and sleep there.
5th day: Plovdiv
6th day: Travel to a Western Europe city for a day or two we haven't been to fly home to NYC.

Thanks for any guidance.

I don't know what's going on with all the numerical replies, but I have reported them.

To respond to your queries:
-Wizz is a very well known airline in Europe. It's a low cost carrier based in Hungary. I have used them many times and they are fine.
-I think your itinerary sounds good. If you rent a car to visit the monastery you can explore a bit more. I really recommend Boyana Church just outside Sofia- a beautiful painted church which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
-In case you are tempted as we were to visit the Rila mountains themselves while you're in the area, just know they are still covered in snow at least thru May... as we found when we tried to do a walk to see the seven Rila lakes in early May.

Good luck with your planning!

John, I've done them all twice come to think of it. Nice trip. You will love it. On the way back you can stop in and I will by you a beer. Ryan flies from Sofia to Budapest (but not every day).

I have flown Wizzair and Ryanair a number of times. They get the job done just fine. But do check you carryon size.
