I’m traveling with a friend to Paris/Provence/Nice in September. My friend is a young 72 with no health issues. She is several years older but in equally good health and a hoot to travel with. I’ve used Travel Guard for insurance in the past using the Silver plan. I priced the plan and the cost would be $633 for the two of us. The plan covers $150,000 for medical evacuations and $15,000 for medical expenses. Do you have alternate insurance plans I should consider? Or a different company you’d recommend?
For our trip next month, I compared plans and prices on SquareMouth. The policy with the best price for the coverages I wanted was with Tin Leg. I recommend you do some comparison shopping on both InsureMyTrip and SquareMouth to see what your options are. GeoBlue also has travel insurance available, I have only bought an annual policy from them in a year we made multiple international trips. However I’m fairly sure they have single trip policies available.
Thank you Katherine. Travelman.... hmmmm.... I plugged in the info and $633 was my quote. I haven’t called yet. Usually do it over the phone. Perhaps I’ll get a better deal. Thank you both.
Further to what Travelman said, do you have any credit card coverage from the card(s) used that could cover cancellation, delays, baggage loss? I travel with the Chase Sapphire Reserve coverage (always make sure at least some of the common carrier expense is purchased with this card) plus emergency medical coverage included in my Medicare supplement.
Alternative to comprehensive travel insurance is a medical/evaculation policy. I've been a riverboat gambler and just gone to Europe with a AIG Travelguard MedEvac policy.

Or a different company you’d recommend?
If you are going to take someone's recommendation, make sure that you learn that the insurance company in fact DOES pay its claims.
For peace of mind with travel insurance, you have to know that the company from whom you're buying the policy PAYS OUT its claims as opposed to rejecting them or making people go through a lot of bureaucracy and paperwork before REJECTING them.
Price alone for a policy isn't enough for a recommendation if the recommender has never filed a claim.
