Travel Insurance, annual policy

I’m thinking of buying an annual policy travel insurance. Does anyone know if it will cover an upcoming trip that I have already made payments towards ? I did call the insurance company, (Allianz) but was unable to hear or understand the person who answered. I have an email into them but haven’t heard back.

What I’m interested in mainly is trip cancellation insurance, for example due to a medical issue like the flu or COVID-19.

Here's a quote from an email I received from Allianz:

Is it too late to buy travel insurance if I’m leaving for my trip tomorrow?

Your plants are watered. Your phone is charged. Your bags are packed. You’re all set to leave for Belize… and then you realize you forgot to buy travel insurance to protect your trip. Is it too late?

You still have time! If you buy travel insurance online, your plan’s effective date is the day after we receive your order. That means your trip can be protected. Get a quote to see your options.

I suggest you give them a call. We have an annual policy, but have not yet had to make a claim.

Plans are different. A lot depends on what it is. For example my annual travel insurance policy has a clause that says you have to have the insurance in place within 30 days after making a deposit on a large amount of money; for example a tour or something like that. So you really need to check the policy closely to make sure what it will cover and when

No two policies are the same so read carefully before buying. Trip cancellation usually covers for things like Flu and Covid, however you'd likely need a Dr's note stating that you are too sick to travel. And beware of 'cancel for any reason' insurance. It has is limitations, including it's not for any reason.
