Traveling to Madrid, Spain and rented an apartment off Puerta del Sol. Since check-in is after 3 PM, I would appreciate recommendations of where to temporarily store your luggage if arriving to the city early in the morning.

There is luggage storage at Atocha Station, which you may pass through or near on your way from the airport unless you take a taxi directly to some other location.
Googling luggage storage Madrid will produce lots of hits; there's likely to be an option fairly near your hotel, though it's possible not all of the places will be open if you arrive very early in the morning.
