Submit insurance claim IMG ITravelInsure LX

I purchased CFAR insurance from IMG, ITravelInsure LX for my trip that is cancelled. The tour company cancelled due to not enough participant. I got the refund for almost everything but the airfare. which is non refundable. Not very much, only about $300.
I received a travel credit from Alaska Airline that I must use to purchase new airfare by Jan 20, 2026.
I don't have any immediate travel plan to use that credit.
Can I submit this a claim?
The thing is the cancellation receipt from Alaska stated I received a credit for the amount of ticket.
I have 90 days to submit a claim.

Has anyone have similar experience?

Thanks,

Maybe this helps. If I understand this correctly, you must PURCHASE the new air travel by January 20, 2026. Is there anything that states when travel needs to take place?

I haven't used that insurance company, but from previous travel claims it's my understanding that insurance companies consider a credit as equal to reimbursement, so would reject such a claim.

@ Jules, I just need to purchase a new ticket by Jan 20, 2026, travel date does not matter.
I planned to use it for a trip to NYC with my daughter in June, also using the Alaska Airlines companion fare. but as it turns out they just changed their policy, not in a good way unfortunately. If using companion fare, the purchase can only be paid 100% by Alaska Air CC. I can't use the wallet first then pay the rest with CC.

I'll think of domestic destinations we could go to utilize this credit.
If not I'll try to submit a claim before it expires. I doubt they would agree to it since technically the voucher still valid.
But if i wait until Jan 20, 2026. I will be outside the 90 days window to submit a claim.
What a waste of $300 in premium.

What a waste of $300 in premium.

I am thinking the waste was opting for CFAR, which is often 3 times the cost of standard insurance.

I bought the CFAR because it's for a guided hiking tour which is expensive. I normally purchase the medical coverage only.

Anyway, I may just found a domestic destination we could use this credit that doesn't cost us a lot. Been thinking to visit Chicago. So this is may be a time to do it :)
