On my recent trip to Antwerp, our hotel was located city center, but instead of using one of the recommended parking garages at some wild cost, we chose to use the tram system instead. There are free, very safe tram-owned parking lots located at various places in the suburbs, then you buy a tram ticket for 3 euro each and ride into the city center. Over our 2 days in Antwerp, our total expenditure for parking/transportation was 27 euros for two people.
