For some of the larger cities, Rick has free audio walking tours for download using the R/S app - we just used them for Vienna and Prague. Both my wife and I had them on our phones. We went to the starting points, inserted our earbuds, and pushed play at the same time. Very informative and useful - we saw things we never would have seen without it. In fact, my niece spent a semester in Prague and after my trip I asked her about some of the things I had seen on the tour, and she wasn't even aware of some of them. I highly recommend installing the app and downloading the tours!
yes, they are very good, we have used numerous of them now in Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria and London.
We have recommended them to many people who knew of RS but were not aware of the walking tours.
they have helped us immensely.
The Grand Canal tour in Venice and the Florence Renaissance Walk were big highlights of our tour of Italy.
Highly recommend !
For the Grande Canal in Venice, where do you begin the audeo tour? I'm assuming you just use a vaparetto...find where it begins and start on it there?
Lulu, Rick's Grand Canal tour narration starts from Venezia S. Lucia train station. You can download a map, as well: http://www.ricksteves.com/watch-read-listen/audio/audio-tours/italy.
