A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Italo, reminding me that I had a voucher left from a ticket canceled due to covid in March 2020. They kept extending the validity, but said that if I did not use it by November 4, 2022, I could request a refund and “monetize” it (in the English translation). But the request has to be made by phone, which might cost more than the voucher is worth (the value was not indicated). So I filed away the email and figured it would not be used.
Then today I realized we had a gap in our upcoming trip in September—I had booked all the train journeys but one. It is a route that Italo serves. So I went to the Italo website, and found it very easy to pay for the Prima class tickets using the voucher. It was fully covered, but they didn’t say if I have anything left over. No matter, as we have no further trips to book for our trip. Ut it was fun to get something for free.
