It does not hurt to ask... booking.com

Have been working on a US domestic trip, but probably applies for international as well.

Have used booking.com for research. In those instances where they had better rate than the lodging site, I contacted the hotel and explained what I found. In both cases they bettered the deal.

Once when I encountered such a situation the hotel suggested I book the room through booking.com, which I did, saved some money and got the same thing.

Will give the hotel a chance to eliminate the middleman, but will choose the lesser cost when it is equal.

Just proves there are no absolutes, but "if you don't ask, you don't get"

Happy affordable travel to all.

I found a hotel in Rep. San Marino in which I was interested, but the rate included parking. I contacted them and asked if there was a rate without parking. They offered me a suite for less than a regular room and breakfast. It was worth asking the question!

I just booked a B&B in London for next year. They don’t take credit cards and wanted either PayPal or wire transfer up front. Both are deal breakers. I emailed them, offered cash at check-in. They agreed. Plus their policy is stay 7 nights, pay for 6. It never hurts to ask.
