Help finding shoulder season European river cruises SOLO travelers

This is so confusing. I want to avoid big single supplements. A modest %age is ok. Some lines offer "selected promotions" but they appear to be last minute. I need to plan ahead for dog care. Late 2026 at the earliest. How can I find a cruise? Thanks Poppy

Sadly, you just missed Gate 1 solo supplement waived sale. I did post a notice on the forum. This waiver eliminates solo supplements across all room categories.

My approach has been to wait for when Gate 1 has this sale (so far twice a year) and book my river cruise then. I did the Danube last summer and am doing the Rhine next month.

In addition, Gate 1 has a limited number of solo cabins available on sailings on a regular basis with no sale required, you are just limited to the smaller cabins on a lower deck. Fellow passengers in those cabins said they were quite satisfied and used the public spaces for sightseeing anyway. Book cabin category ES Single.

Thank you Carol, great information, very helpful. 2 additional questions if I can imposed: 1. Do you know which months roughly they hold these "sales"? And 2. I don't see 2027 dates online yet, do you know where/when to search? Much appreciated Poppy

Hi, Poppy! In previous years it was always March and September. This spring it wasn't until May, but I think you could expect it again sometime in the fall. It is never a "sure thing" but they have been doing this pretty consistently now. One way to make sure that you don't miss the next sale is to sign up for their weekly emails. Then you will be notified when the next sale comes up. The sale usually lasts about 4 days.

Great thank Kelly. Do you know when they are available and how to be notified?
