Health insurance while travelling, living outside of the US

OP, I see you started another thread regarding medical travel coverage.

Follow the advice given in your other post. Use a company like Insurance My Trip or Squaremouth to help you find a policy that meets your needs. In the US, policies are sold based on your state of residence.

I use Insure My Trip to narrow down my options. Their customer service has been excellent in answering my questions via email and chat.

Please note, you are not considered "living outside the US" when you are traveling abroad for a few months.

If you're planning to reside in the UK or Europe for 6 months or longer, your needs will be different. You, generally, will need to purchase an annual policy to qualify for your long term visa. That is a different scenario altogether.

Check GeoBlue. They have a multi-trip plan that covers multiple trips up to 70 days long.

If you are truly living abroad (sounds more like you are just taking a long vacation), they also have expat plans.

Just because you are somewhere for a month or more doesn't mean you are living there. To actually live somewhere you have to have either some type of visa or citizenship.

Until that happens, you are a visitor/tourist. (I spend 8-10 months outside the US and up to three months in one particular country. But I am long living in that country. I am still a visitor. )

Since according to your other post, you are a US resident, you have to get US based travel insurance.

Starting with insuremytrip.com is a good idea. You put in your requirements and it will tell you what company's are offering what you need.

I went to Allianz' website and put in a request for a quote and got one. So I don't know where you got the idea they are not writing policies

Frank II, per OP's other post, he contacted Allianz Ireland. Of course they won't write a policy for a US resident.
