Planning for EU travel for a few weeks next summer using (mostly) an Eurail pass for ground transportation. End of trip we will be in Switzerland for a few days and then home via Frankfurt.
QUESTION: Can any of the Swiss passes be used for train travel from Switzerland to a German city?
A Swiss Travel Pass only covers you to the border, with a couple of trivial exceptions like the S-Bahn between Zurich and Schaffhausen that cuts through a sliver of Germany and makes some stops there.
When travelling from somewhere in Switzerland to Germany the cheapest is often to just book the whole trip with Bahn. For the Supersparpreis Europa they pretty much give you the Swiss part for free. So no need to have a Swiss Pass for that day. You can get a ticket from pretty much anywhere in Switzerland to FRA for 29.90
