We’d like to give our daughter and son-in-law $1,000 for a special splurge on their 10th-anniversary trip to Italy. Any clever way to earmark it so it doesn’t just disappear into their general travel budget, while still giving them flexibility?
The challenge is that I don’t want to just give them cash or Venmo $1,000 and have it disappear into the general trip “slush fund.” I’d like it to feel clearly earmarked for an anniversary splurge — a memorable dinner, premium excursion - an upgrade they wouldn't buy for themselves — but I also don’t want to create extra hassle for them by making them open a new account or arrange something complicated.
Has anyone found a good way to do this? A prepaid card that works well in Italy?
