Best Travel Health Insurance Companies for Europe?

I'm going. I'm in reasonably good health TODAY. I'm not a spring chicken. I would like to cover my rear should something happen.

Any suggestions?

I suggest going to Squaremouth or InsureMyTrip and doing some comparisons using the parameters that you are interested in.

What specifics are you wanting?

Trip Delay? Medical coverage? Medical evacuation? Repatriation (return of someone's remains)? Coverage for trip cancellation? Hotel coverage if you get sick with Covid and have to delay a return home?

Some of these I want, some do not matter to me and I've made the decision I'll have plenty of room on my CC to charge extra nights in a hotel compared to the amount insurance for that particular outcome costs.

I've gotten Travel Guard, Allianz and Divers Network in the past. I've never had to make a claim.

If you really do mean health insurance--coverage of medical expenses while in Europe because your current insurance has no overseas coverage, you might check GeoBlue. I haven't used it, but I remember seeing a few posts here about it.

If you're looking for something more comprehensive, a website like squaremouth or insuremytrip will probably be helpful.

What most concerns me is Medical coverage, Medical evacuation, and Repatriation. I just signed up with GeoBlue. I hope that I wasted my money.

I have used Travel Guard for years and have always been happy with their service. My mother fell and broke her kneecap in Belgium requiring surgery, and they were wonderful.

Travel medical insurance is a”Rubik’s Cube” to figure out. It depends on your age, number of trips you take annually and the length of those trips. All of the medical plans I have reviewed are “secondary”. In other words they are going to look to your coverage at home first, before they make a payment. If you are 70 years of age or older, they may limit you to a max of $100,000. FYI, my wife and I have been looking at this in some detail since we travel quite internationally several months out of the year. Definitely read the policies in detail.
