Anybody have any experience using 2Good2Go app?

Has anybody used this app? You pay a discounted price and get a “surprise” package of food from a bakery/restaurant. I’m thinking of trying it at a bakery in Vienna. There seem to be tons of offerings. How can I go wrong with pastries, right? Just curious if anybody has used it and what your experience was.

I use Too Good To Go quite frequently. Most of the times I’m happy with the quality and quantity of what I get.
Before I buy a surprise package, I always check out the review score of that particular place. If the review score is below 4/5, I’ll give it a pass.
Which is why the experience of me and others with the app in general is much less relevant than the review score of the particular bakery you’re considering. The app itself works great, the quantity and quality of the stuff you get can differ, but that’s not the app’s fault. So always check the review score in the app of the surprise package you’re considering.

I use it all the time here in Vienna and my son uses it all the time in Edinburgh. We use it all the time because we like it. There are four unwritten categories, in my opinion. 1) bakeries, 2) hotel breakfast, 3) grocery stores and 4) restaurants. We do bakeries a lot, some are better than others. We do the TGTG at Backwerk a lot because you pick out your own baked goods totaling 10 Euro but pay only 4-5 Euro. I also really like to do the hotel breakfast, particularly at the Hilton by Stadtpark here. I go with about 5 Tupperware containers and fill them up with what’s is left on the buffet, paying about 15 Euro. I get a massive amount of food. The Hofer grocery store also has great TGTG boxes.

Wow! Good to know. I’ve always wondered about the hotel breakfasts that seem to have soooo much food. I’m glad to see it being offered and not wasted.

I worked at a French bakery in college. They never sold day old baked goods: croissants, baguettes, amazing bread, etc. We would bag up a lot at the end of the day and a shelter would pick it up. But they had a limit, since they could only use so much before it spoiled. So employees got to take the extras. And the pastries (mouse, cakes, etc) never sat for more than 2 days. The shelter wouldn’t take it, so employees could. Not good for the waistline! A lot was just dumped.

Emily’s reply is a perfect example as to why the review scores of the surprise package are important, because experiences can differ even between certain outlets of the same chain. In the Netherlands we too have Backwerk and I regularly buy their surprise bag. Here it works differently, you pay €5,49 and you get a bag with bread rolls, sandwiches sausage rolls, smoothies etc etc worth around €16. The shop has already filled the bag, so you don’t get to choose. I have no problems with that, because I basically like everything they have and it’s always fun to try something new. But it’s important to know what to expect.
