Traveling from Split to Mostar to Sarajevo

We are planning on traveling from split into Bosnia in mid September . We would like to hire a driver to take us from Split to Mostar and then Sarajevo . We plan to stay one or two nights in Sarajevo and then fly home. Anyone know a driver or have advice on this? We did not think we needed to stay in Mostar overnight, comments? Thank you. Pat

I would highly recommend staying the night in Mostar, I think it would be worthwhile. The town is not big but there are interesting markets and places to walk on both sides of the famous bridge (Stari Most) in the Old Town. I loved the hotel (Muslibegovich House) where I stayed, which is also a national museum where you can do a quick tour (the host provides this option). It was very atmospheric, clean, with lovely and delicious breakfast and very nice hosts. It was a very memorable stay. I didn't want to leave Mostar even after spending the night there and having a day and half in the town.

I would recommend three full days in Sarajevo if you can swing it. It's also not that large, but has a lot of interesting sites. You can cover them all in two days on an aggressive schedule, but one more day would be better. Obviously, there is more to do there than Mostar, so I would plan accordingly.

Unfortunately, I can't offer any ideas regarding private drivers because I took a bus between these locations on the return trip (I started in Split, flew to Sarajevo, and then worked my way to Mostar and then Dubrovnik by bus). It was quite easy and very inexpensive. Luggage went in the belly of the bus, and the buses were nice and modern. No issues whatsoever.

We used Taxi Mili Pajo last October for a similar/reverse route to what you're planning. Mili (the owner) picked us up in Sarajevo and dropped us off in Dubrovnik with a stop to walk around Mostar. He took us to a great place for coffee in Mostar where we got an in-depth history lesson on Bosnian coffee from the wonderful owner that ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. He is based in Mostar, so I'm sure you could divide up the trip into two days if you decide to spend the night there. I got the impression that he drives all around the region, so I'm pretty confident he would do a pick up in Split.

He was incredibly nice and professional, and the ride was very affordable in the grand scheme of things - I think about 100 Euro inclusive for the whole day. He also knew of a less-travelled border crossing that saved quite a bit of time.

Highly recommended!

I have the perfect one for you: Ermin Elezovic mobile: 061-908-597 from Rick Stevens book see pg 429 Croatia & Slovenia. We used him in May from Dubrovnik to Mostar and Mostar to Split the next day. Definitely stay overnight in Mostar (just DO NOT stay at Villa Anri). Ermin is fluent in English, very professional and local in Mostar. Will not disappoint and worth the cost. Enjoy a Good trip.

I would not spend a night in Mostar. I did Mostar as a day trip from Sarajevo using a bus and one day was enough. Sarajevo was much more interesting to me.

***New question* on PRIVATE GUIDES-do you have guide suggestions for Mostar and also sarajevo?
We would also like a private guide for Dubrovnik**
