The guidebook mentions that smoking is more common in Bosnia, is that still the case? Smoking in restaurants, hotels, museums? I am sensitive to smoke and wondering what it is like nowadays.

I was in Bosnia in 2023 and people smoked in restaurants. There are supposed to be smoking and non-smoking sections, but that wasn't enforced at that time. I did not observe smoking in museums and I believe our hotel in Sarajevo was non-smoking (I recall people smoking outside in a designated area). Bosnia is wonderful -- enjoy!
Ditto what sds said. If it's an issue for you, you might be uncomfortable there.
I was in Bosnia in May and can confirm there is still smoking in restaurants and bars (very unusual to see these days!). Definitely not museums and not in the places we stayed. To be honest I didn't notice many people smoking in restaurants, the main place I was aware of it was bars, and of course outside.
I was there in July. In bars and coffee places, yes smoking was pretty common. But I don’t recall encountering it in restaurants or other common places. FWIW, I can be bothered too, and it wasn’t at a level that stood out to me.
I was just in Bosnia last week. There were lots of people smoking outside but I didn’t notice anyone smoking inside. I would have noticed as smoke bothers me. There were ashtrays on the tables inside however.
I'll offer my data point:
I'm somewhat sensitive to smoke but don't remember it ever being an issue. The three places I stayed in Bosnia (in Sarajevo, Lukomir, Mostar) were all smoke free (but I think it is certainly worth asking about this in BiH to make sure).
