Road concerns between Dubrovnik, Cavtat & Kotor

Does anyone know why the roads around Dubrovnik to the south around Cavtat carry this warning from Google Maps: "restricted usage or private road?" It's not merely the border crossings because there are routes that mention those without the warning. Looking up Google legends or reasons for these warning didn't help.

We are planning on driving from Mostar to Cavtat and maybe from Cavtat to Kotor. However, all three of the Google proposed routes to Cavtat from Mostar have this warning. I narrowed it down to the roads near Cavtat. In fact, even the route from Dubrovnik to Cavtat carries this warning. Can anyone explain or tell me of their experience driving from Mostar to Dubrovnik (no Google warnings, just how was it) or from Dubrovnik to Kotor as that route carries this warning. Should we have any concerns?

Thank you.

I drove from Dubrovnik to Mostar last summer and had no issues when following google maps. I took the route through Trebinje on the way to Mostar and through Doli/past Ston on the way back.

Thank you, TA. That's good to hear. Just hearing from another real person who's done it makes it come alive. We can't wait. It's just odd that the main roads around Cavtat carry this warning. It's a bit off-putting though I've read of those on this site that opted to stay in Cavtat rather than Dubrovnik for the cost and busy-ness savings so it must not be a hindrance.

When I tried some different options on google maps, it looks like the Cavtat parking lot may be the cause of the private road warning? Regardless, Mostar is beautiful and a really interesting place. Driving there just took me a bit longer than what is estimated. Enjoy your trip!

Thank you for sleuthing that possibility out! We are actually staying our last two nights in Cavtat with an assigned parking space, so if that's the reason for the warning, it won't be an issue. Can't wait to see it though it will be close to saying goodbye to what sounds like a lovely country so that part will be bittersweet. Thank you so much for your contributions. It certainly helps to have fellow travelers have your back.
