Is Bosnia Safe to Travel?

The US & Canadian Gov. say security measures in Bosnia and Herzegovina remain heightened due to ongoing threats posed by transnational terrorist organizations and individuals inspired by extremist ideology throughout Europe. Extremists continue to focus on tourist locations, shopping malls, airports, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, transportation hubs, and other soft targets?

How safe is it to travel here?

Thanks,
Jean

It’s probably as safe as any US city. I haven’t heard of any incidents there. The UK government isn’t highlighting any particular issues other than the usual pickpockets. There was a mass shooting in Bosnia 4 years ago, but there have been far more of those in the USA that have made the news here in that timescale.

I wouldn’t hesitate to travel there.

Hi. I don't think you should worry about safety in Bosnia. It's as peaceful as in Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia or Montenegro. I live in Macedonia and we haven't heard anything like what you just mentioned. Locals love tourists and they are very helpful, but make sure you are in big cities, rather than small villages. I wouldn't worry about terrorists in Bosnia, and crime level is generally low. But always stay extra cautious when you are in foreign places. Take care.

Thanks all; not really worried just that the Governments have issued this warning and thought I'd ask about conditions there. We're booked so we're going!

YES. Go, enjoy, and talk to the locals. They are a font of information!

Bosnia is now extremely safe to travel... I was there last year and hadn't any problems what so ever.
